Tangram Ten // Liz Charney

Please join us in welcoming Liz Charney to Tangram! Elizabeth is joining the team as a Designer for our Fresno office. Her previous position as an Interior Designer for 505Design is what brought her from the midwest to the west coast, where she now enjoys the beautiful weather that allows for year-round hiking. As a fitness trainer, Liz may be the epitome of health, but she also enjoys occasionally indulging in the sweet & salty side of the food pyramid. We are thrilled to have her experience, enthusiasm and perspective as wonderful additions to the team. Welcome, Liz, we’re happy to have you!

1. Name, title?

Liz Charney, Designer

2. Where is your hometown?

New Carlisle, OH

3. What type of company did you work at previously and what was your role there?

505Design. I was an Interior Designer who specialized in creating unique environments for commercial properties including public/common areas, retail stores/storefront designs, master planning for lifestyle and mixed-use developments, hospitality spaces, and multi-family communities. Most of the projects were focused on generating the amenity spaces in these zones that extended from interior- exterior environments.

4. What is something you recently crossed off your bucket list?

Hiking in Yosemite and Sequoia National Park with my family and friends. What an incredible experience filled with amazing scenery!

5. How would you describe your favorite food to someone who’s never had it before?

This is an instant refreshing delight, and will be there for you on a hot summer day, a bad day that needs a sweet escape, and also a delightful dessert treat. It melts in your hand as well as your mouth, and can be added to any pie combination. The flavor is rich, creamy, and tastes like sea salt mixed with caramel. Sea salt caramel ice cream!

6. If you could have lunch with someone famous (dead or alive) who would it be and why?

If I could pick anyone to have lunch with for a day it would be with Tesla founder, Elon Musk. It would be an incredible experience to know his thought process behind clean energy/ energy efficiency, and what effects this will have on the Earth in past/present/future.

7. What are you most looking forward to in your new role at Tangram?

I am looking forward to learning about the dealer industry from one of the largest Steelcase dealers in California. I enjoy new educational and technological challenges, and expanding my knowledge of the design industry outside of the A&D world.  Not only will this be a great opportunity to grow as a designer, but also learn about the importance of sales/business development in this industry.

8. What is the bravest thing you’ve ever done?

Taken a risk to move to the west coast without ever visiting or meeting anyone from San Francisco/ The Bay Area. This was about 7 years now, and I have grown to love the west coast even more than I could have imagined!

9. How many donuts are you capable of eating in one sitting?

Typically I stay away from eating donuts, but as a fitness trainer I could only do ½ donut without feeling like my fitness goals were already in jeopardy.

10. What do you hope to bring to the Tangram team?

I hope to bring enthusiasm, a new creative edge/ perspective, and collaborative mentality to develop creative solutions for all current and future clients!
