Tangram Ten // Sherine Teymour

Please join us in welcoming Sherine Teymour to Tangram! Sherine is joining the Studio team as a Design Consultant. After graduating from University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, she went on to get two Masters Degrees in Lighting + Product Design as well as Environmental Design. Before coming to Tangram, she was an Interior Designer for LPA working in the education market. On top of all that, Sherine’s a world traveler and an adventurer when it comes to food and karaoke decisions. Her design passion, knowledge and experience are all exciting additions to the Studio team. Welcome, Sherine, we’re thrilled to have you!

1. Name, title?

Sherine Teymour, Design Consultant for Tangram Studio

2. Where is your hometown?

Chicago, Illinois.  I am actually from the suburbs, but that just doesn’t sound as cool.

3. What type of company did you work at previously and what was your role there?

I was working at an architectural firm called LPA in Orange County as an interior designer. More specifically, I was working in the education market segment on K-12 schools and Higher Education projects, designing everything from engineering studios to college gyms and the Ducks new training facility.

4. What is a fun fact about yourself?

I love to travel and I have a love for other cultures and languages.  A few years ago I did my first solo back-packing trip through Morocco and it’s inspired me to do many, many more in the years to come.  Who knew solo travel could be so fun!

5. If you were trapped on an island which three things would you want to have with you and why?

Good company, a tent for shade, and a pocket knife so that I could cut open some fresh coconuts.  I’d probably be enjoying the water most of the time.

6. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever eaten?

I had a cricket last year when I was in Mexico City.  I’d probably never do that one again.

7. What are you most looking forward to in your new role at Tangram?

I am looking forwarding to broadening my horizons and to integrating with my team as a whole.  Everyone here seems so friendly and passionate about design.  I’m really excited to contribute to our passion, drive, and creativity and to learn from those around me as well.

8. What is your go-to Karaoke song and why?

I sang LeAnn Ryhmes’ “How Do I Live Without You” at UMich’s Michigan Idol one year, so I guess that counts as a go to.  It was one of those, “Why Not” moments.

9. You’re throwing a party, what would be the theme and who would be the guest of honor?

I am a bit of a hippie, so it would probably be something more spiritual, like a yoga and tea party.  It’d be cool to have someone come speak like Justin Baldoni, Jay Shetty, or Meryl Streep.  Otherwise, it’d probably be a dress-up and mingle to 90s music sort of party with appetizers from all over the world.  I love good food.

10. What do you hope to bring to the Tangram team?

I hope to bring a lot of positive energy, my architectural and interiors knowledge from working in the field, and good, thoughtful design.  One of the reasons I love furniture design so much is because it’s so strongly linked to our human senses.  What we touch, see, and hear can drastically change how we feel in a space.
