The new year is coming, which means it’s time to start thinking ahead to the trends and innovative ideas that are going to drive the next 14 or so months of your business. Here are some workplace trends to get ready for in 2016:
1. Electric Blue
According to Azure Magazine, electric blue is going to be the big workplace design color of the year. Designers have been incorporating the color in everything from carpets to tables, chairs to couches. This is an easy trend to apply to your workplace because you don’t need to completely overhaul your office. Add some electric blue lampshades, paintings, or throw rugs to get an up-to-date look without spending a lot of time or money.
2. Stripped Down/Natural Finishes
The “back to nature” movement isn’t going anywhere in 2016, so if you haven’t already embraced the trend yet, you might want to start. This trend includes stripping down to expose bare concrete or natural hardwood. It is also being incorporated in design ideas like wood paneling and wood tables, chairs, and desks.
3. Decentralized Office Spaces
As more and more companies embrace, and encourage, their employees to work remotely, office spaces are going to continue to become more decentralized in 2016. Many offices find they don’t need designated work spaces, and others are incorporating different types of work spaces into their offices to give employees options depending on how they work. The muti-faceted office is going to be big in 2016, but how this works in your office will depend largely on your business and employees. What do your employees want in an office, and how will your office’s design improve their productivity?
